Collection: Zwischen Warp

If you’ve ever carried a fetus, particularly to term, you may have heard and felt Zwischen, a German word meaning “between.” It’s often deemed just the right descriptor of a surreal & often frustrating time; waiting for gestation to end, and life outside to begin. I felt it deeply as birth grew near for all my babies. And then again recently for Betty when we all thought she was near. I tried not to fuss, but of course I did.

This warp was wound and woven while I agitated in zwischen. Waiting for the dang babies that weren't there. I’m at peace with it now, but this warp holds that energy of between. Back and forth, fussing and relaxing, white and black. Birth comes when it’s time, or not at all when there's nothing to be born.

In the middle is an assortment of warp ends, often hand dyed, that were in excess of the width I needed for prior warps, arranged in a rainbow because if the entirety of birth was a color it'd be rainbow, obviously. There are musings about the zwischen space we’re in as a country/species/world too but I cannot get the words right just yet. It weighs heavily.

Please enjoy the Zwischen Warp. 15 neckerchiefs & 3 cowls.
